Wedding photoshoot
A wedding is unthinkable without a vast number of wedding photos. The clicks of the camera and bright flashes serve as important witnesses to a beautiful, happy occasion. Photographs capture emotions, feelings, and fleeting moments; they are proof of love and an answer to the question «Why?» one might ask in the future. Of course, one could write volumes about the importance of wedding photos and the role of a professional photographer, but everyone has their own unique vision of the day and the memories associated with it.
Emotions matter more than style and fashion.
Discussing every detail with a wedding photographer can take days, or even weeks. Yet, the couple often ends up with a stack of cookie-cutter wedding photos that—over time, as you flip through your family album—fail to impress. They feel lifeless and contrived, failing to capture the true atmosphere of your day.
Your photographs and the shoot itself are a record of your memories and a testament to your love. They aren’t just about following trends; they should beautifully and soulfully reflect where it all began. That way, whenever you open your photo book, you’ll be transported back to the atmosphere and the emotions that filled your heart on that day.
I offer a compromise—a dynamic, authentic collaboration with your photographer that results in:
- Stylish, beautiful posed shots of a couple. These are the very photos that adorn the walls of a home for years. They are given to relatives and displayed in frames. They highlight the significance of the occasion—immortalizing it—and capture the mood of the couple in love.
- Emotional, candid shots—perfect for when, years later, you want to relive the atmosphere of that very day. These are the kinds of images that stir up memories of the excitement, anticipation, joy, fun, and high energy of the moment.
Be yourselves and express your feelings openly. After all, genuine emotion is the best backdrop—it helps the wedding photographer capture images that feel truly alive and authentic. And whenever necessary, I’ll guide you on how to act and suggest the most flattering poses.
What should you pay attention to?
The photoshoot and the photographer should remain unobtrusive. It is a huge mistake to put the guests and the couple in a situation where they feel they must constantly be on guard. The result is ruined shots featuring people who look startled or are busy adjusting their makeup, clothes, or hair. You certainly wouldn’t like photos like that!
Knowing how to capture a great shot is the mark of an experienced wedding photographer and the key to beautiful, natural images. Here are a few of my recommendations for the photoshoot:
- Consider the wedding photographer’s advice regarding the placement of the ceremony arch and photo zone. They can suggest the best positioning to ensure you are delighted with the results in your wedding photos;
- For the walk during the shoot, you can choose locations that are meaningful to you;
- Don’t hold back—let your emotions show in the shot.

Before finalizing the booking, the couple should meet with the photographer. Even a brief twenty-minute conversation can reveal a great deal to the wedding professional about the couple, suggesting themes and helping to anticipate the lovers’ wishes. I am happy to answer any questions the couple may have. I recommend choosing a professional very carefully; price and specific services shouldn’t be the deciding factors—the connection is what matters most, as the memories you cherish for years to come will depend on their photography.
Once the wedding is over, the cost no longer matters; nothing can be reshot, and the emotions—the sparkle and gleam in your eyes—cannot be recreated exactly as they were. However, you can certainly create new stories about yourselves. If your wedding day schedule is packed, don’t overload it with a photo walk; save your energy and emotions for the most important moments, and schedule the photo session for either before or after the wedding day itself. This is a perfectly common practice. Such sessions are often called «Love Story» shoots, though terms like «additional shoot» or «pre-wedding shoot» are also used.
These sessions can be organized anywhere and in any style you like. Plus, there is no need to worry about running late for the ceremony or keeping your guests waiting and bored.
Many couples prefer a pre-wedding «Love Story» shoot, and there are distinct advantages to doing so. First, you get to know the photographer while actually working together. This means that on the wedding day itself, you know what to expect and feel more relaxed in front of the camera. Second, you end up with a beautiful love story that you can share with your guests during the reception.
I could go on at length about the significance of different types of shoots, but ultimately, the main point I want to convey is that in any session, the only thing that truly matters is you—the real you! And then, no shoot will require justification; instead, it will be imbued with meaning and significance by default.
